Just fucking do it
Monday. 1.7.08 1:50 am
I don't believe I ever made a new years post. Normally I wouldn't bother backtracking to cover the usual talk of resolutions and crazy parties. But the day of new years this strange sensation came over me. I have no idea how to explain it. It's one of those things you just know deep down in your gut. I know that this year is going to kick ass. Let me tell you why.

I've changed the way I live. I have this new philosophy that I'm trying to live by. I like to call it the "just fucking do it" philosophy. No complaining, no bull shit. Just fucking do it. At the beginning of December I learned a valuable lesson in Mason, Ohio, while attending a jump rope workshop. Complaining yields no rewards, it means that you either lack the will to persevere or you are too lazy to fix your own problems. I decided I wanted nothing to do with either. Hence, the "just fucking do it" philosophy was born. Since then, it has undergone several renovations, the lastest regarding goals. If I say "I want to beat Jesse at single rope freestyle this year," I can't just want to do it. I have to work to do it.

My new years resolutions are as follows:
  • Beat Jesse at single rope freestyle

  • Get more involved in setting up my future. Colleges, scholarships, a job, etc.

  • Build a better relationship with my family.

With the help of my "just fucking do it" philosphy, I feel all of my resolutions will come to fruition.

P.s It just occured to me that I can never take short showers. I remember distinctly telling myself "ok only five minutes." Fifteen minutes later I'm drying myself off and I have no recollection of how the hell time passed so fast. Therefore, I add a fourth resolution: take shorter showers.

Good day!

Do not try to bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

I'm too much of a procrastinator to follow your 'just fucking do it' philosophy. lol. I'd say it and end up just putting it off till later.

and I never said anything about "dating" *cough* besides, technically, in-work dating is allowed, but with very strict rules to abide by. such as not being able to work on the same shifts, ever; when at work together pretending to not be in a relationship, etc. too much of a hassle. and I only maybe see him at work once a week, twice if I'm lucky.

That philosophy sounds fun.. I don't think you'd be able to shower in 5 minutes.. Unless of course it doesn't count the time you take off your clothes and you don't use soap.

I'm stealing that.

I actually have contemplated staying up all night... but that seems like a bad idea because on Tuesdays and Thursdays I am in school until 5pm.

I use that philosophy
when I'm about to make a jump. Either literally or metaphorically, it still works.

And AHA, you have a cross on your site.

If that was uncalled for, then I apologize in advance.

hahaha!
I have no resolutions. Perhaps I shall adopt yours? I second your second res. and the third I've been working on, but it's not working.

And your last is so true. How the heck did that happen?!
I've found my sense of time has truely...what's the word for gotten worse. I've forgotten. Ah, the downsides of having a behemothic vocabulary.

I find it funny how you swear now that you're no longer restricted by your maximum security computer. :P

Fifteen minutes would actually be a short shower for me... And really, what can you do in five minutes? :S
» randomjunk on 2008-01-07 07:39:57

I find that I get loose time in the shower too. Maybe I just miss the pool too much.

PS-- Are you applying to SPU??? just kidding. don't come here.

Good luck with your New Year's resolutions! :) Even if you don't complete any of them, at least you made the effort. :D

true. there's no use of complaining when it's not going to be translated into actions. complaining is not a problem but as the saying goes words are louder than action.

i think i have been procrastinating long enough and been too long in my comfort zone. i need to do something challenging..

I think Nike should adopt your philosophy as their new slogan.
